Club Activities

The following are just a sample of the many events we hold throughout the year. Click on each for additional information.

ANNUAL GAME DINNER

The game dinner is held in January, and open to the public. There is alarge variety of game related dishes (as well as a few non-game dishes) including soups, salads, appetizers, entrees, and desserts. Raffles provide an excellent opportunity to go home full, and with new toys!

PUBLIC SKEET AND TRAP SHOOTING

Join us on Wednesday evenings 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Sunday mornings starting at 10:00 for public skeet and trap shooting. The cost is $6 per round of skeet and trap shooting for nonmembers. Shooters are reminded to bring proper eye and ear protection.

PISTOL, RIFLE, ARCHERY RANGES

MSA offers recreational shooters a 6 lane, 100 yard pistol and rifle range with paper and steel targets. There is also a 50 yard archery range on property, complete with a treestand to practice downward shots.

FISHING DERBY

Two fishing derbys are held each year, one in the spring, and one in the winter. The derbys are open to the public and prizes are awarded for the biggest catch. The spring derby aligns with opening day of fishing season. The winter derby is an ice derby if conditions allow.

CLUB PICNICS

Seasonal club picnics are held throughout the year. Although some are scheduled, there are many impromptu gatherings throughout the year - whether cookouts, fish frys, or clam bakes, something is always cooking. Members are encouraged to bring their familes.

HUNTING AND FISHING

Private land hunting and fishing is available to club members who are licensed hunters and fishers in the State of Connecticut. Pheasant stocking is done throughout the season, and the pond is stocked for fishing throughout the year. With the exception of the derbys, hunting and fishing on the property is reserved for members. All rules and guidelines can be found on the hunting and fishing page.

EASTERN CONNECTICUT SKEET CLUB

Two ECSC teams call Manchester Sportsmen's Association home. Matches are played on Sundays throughout the skeet season. On match days, trap is open regular hours, however public skeet is not available until league play is complete.

THE CONNECTICUT VALLEY BUSHWACKERS/SASS

The MSA hosts The Connecticut Valley Bushwackers, part of the Single Action Shooting Society. They participate in Cowboy Action Shoots. While dressing the part and shooting guns specific to the cowboy lifestyle, participants bring cowboy shooting to life. Of course, there are no horses, and no duels, but there is plenty of fun. The shoots are open to the public.
