Firearm Safety Education

The Manchester Sportsmen's Association offers many educational opportunities for the public and members alike. Whether you are interested in obtaining your Connecticut pistol permit, hunting license, or simply want to learn to shoot better, check out our educational opportunities below.

NRA BASIC PISTOL, RIFLE, AND SHOTGUN COURSES

The NRA Basic Pistol course is a requirement for obtaining a CT pistol permit. The course is 8 hours long and contains a live fire component. Please check the schedule for available classes. All classes are open to the public.

CONSERVATION EDUCATION FIREARM SAFETY COURSE

The CE/FS hunting safety course must be completed prior to obtaining a hunting license. The course is offered in the traditional and self study forms. Traditional courses are 16 hours long, and usually span 3 days. The self study course is 8 hours and requires prerequisite work. The classes are open to the public.

UTAH/MA CARRY PERMITS

Instructors from the New England Firearms Academy visit the club for a one day class that teaches both UT and MA laws relating to firearm carry. Upon completion, the student is able to apply for their nonresident Utah and Massachusetts permits. The class is open to the public.

SELF DEFENSE PISTOL TRAINING

MSA teams up with the New England Firearms Academy to provide self defense pistol training. The 4 hour course focuses on fundamentals of defensive shooting techniques, as well as live fire training from holstered and unholstered positions, and shooting while changing magazines. The class is open to the public.
